Roger Cicala, MD, Founder of Lensrentals.com, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in photography equipment and healthcare.
With nearly 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Cicala founded Lensrentals.com in 2007, exploring his interests in photography and the arts through this venture. In addition to his primary role, he has served as the chief executive offer of Olaf Optical Testing since 2013 and he was a staff physician with Semmes-Murphey Clinics from 2003 to 2011. He previously served as a medical author and illustrator from 1994 to 1997, and he held a number of positions with the University of Tennessee, including director of the pain center from 1988 to 1994, associate professor from 1990 to 1994, instructor and assistant professor from 1987 to 1990, and chief resident in 1985. He is also a former staff member of the Memphis Neuroscience Center, the Elvis Presley Trauma Center, the Methodist Hospital, and he Eastwood Medical Center.
Dr. Cicala first pursued an education with Christian Brothers College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1978. He continued his studies with the University of Tennessee, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1982. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Medical Examiners, and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Cicala has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He has also been active with the American Pain Society, the International Society for the Study of Pain, the International Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care Society, the International Anesthesia Research Society, and the Tennessee Medical Association. He is a member of the Tennessee Society of Anesthesiologists, the Shelby County Medical Society, the Shelby County Anesthesia Society, the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, the Society of Pain Practice Management, and the Association of University Anesthetists.
Dr. Cicala is the co-author of “Courtroom Medicine: Pain and Suffering,” “Geriatric Anesthesiology,” and “Textbook of Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care.” He also contributed to “Headache: Diagnosis and Interdisciplinary Treatment,” “Refresher Course in Anesthesiology, volume 20,” “Handbook of Trauma Surgery,” “Manual of Trauma Anesthesia,” and “The Heart Disease Handbook.” He was the co-editor of “Textbook of Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care.”
