Title: Founder, Marine Turtle Investigator
Company: Sea Turtles Forever
Location: Seaside, Oregon, United States
Marc W. Ward, Founder and Marine Turtle Investigator at Sea Turtles Forever, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements and leadership in sustainability.
After doing his first-ever cleanup of marine debris in 1976, Mr. Ward became the founder and a marine turtle investigator with Sea Turtles Forever in 2001, which he has maintained ever since. In addition to this role, he has conducted research for a university in Japan and is affiliated with the Earth Day Committee. Prior to the start of his professional career, Mr. Ward pursued a formal education at Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon, where he attained an Associate of Science. He is the type of person that likes to be in the wild and prefers doing fieldwork more than anything.
Notably, Mr. Ward patented a system that is manually operated and carbon-neutral that will filtrate the dust and microplastic from the water and sand to essentially clean the ocean. In recognition of his efforts, he was honored with the Green Award. Moving forward, Mr. Ward would like to continue removing microplastics. He saw a great threat to sea turtles and now, he sees a huge threat to humans. He wants to stop the buildup of this plastic; the more microplastic that grows, the more toxicity it will have against all walks of life.
