Company: Hair It Is Salon
Location: St. Cloud, Florida, United States
Myra Hernandez, Owner of the Hair It Is Salon, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership as a hairdresser and an entrepreneur.
Since 2010, Ms. Hernandez has excelled as the owner of the Hair It Is Salon in St. Cloud, Florida, where she works as a hairdresser. She completed coursework at the University of Massachusetts Amherst before getting married and moving out of the country. After she divorced her husband, she moved to Florida with her daughter, who has autism and wanted to find a way to spend time with her, eventually discovering her current career. Ms. Hernandez wanted to have a safe place for her daughter to stay after school, and now that the salon is thriving, she is proud that her daughter works with her as well.
Ms. Hernandez attributes her success to her honesty. She is truthful about the stylistic goals that can and cannot be achieved with their hair, and she is proud of developing trust and friendships with her customers. In the future, she wishes to be the center hub for salons around her area and aims to move into a bigger commercial space and expand her business. Ms. Hernandez also plans to open a center for autism called “Beyond the Label” in St. Cloud, Florida, because the city doesn’t have one.
In recognition of her entrepreneurial success, Ms. Hernandez has been the recipient of numerous awards over the course of her career. Orlando Family Magazine presented her with a Superwoman Award for a different salon experience in May 2019, and she was featured on numerous television programs, including Fox 35. On the first Sunday of every month, Ms. Hernandez gives free haircuts for children with autism, providing a one-on-one hour with each child, in which she works to get them more comfortable with the idea of getting a haircut. After several visits, her goal is to help the children transition to traditional barbershops or salons. In addition, Ms. Hernandez enjoys getting to know members of her local community.
