Robert J. Lucas, Founder and Owner at Central Atlanta Props and Sets, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the film industry.
When Mr. Lucas graduated high school, he like many other students at that age was pondering what he would do next in life. He knew that he always had a love for the film industry and intended on becoming a special effects specialist and gravitated towards the art department world of set decoration. He decided to move to Los Angeles in the early 1980s and worked on many music videos. Then he transitioned to cult classic horror movies. Over time, he continued to build his career working all over the country, until 2013, when he bought out an antique dealer and was able to start his prop house in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Lucas noticed the upswing of the film industry in Atlanta and so his business seemed to be in the perfect place, where it has now expanded greatly over the years.
Mr. Lucas began his career as the lead of set decoration for motion pictures in Santa Clarita, California from 1983 to 2014. In 2014, he opened Central Atlanta Props & Sets, LLC, where he remains the owner to this day. His store has a large variety of set dressing rental items for the entertainment and event industry. Items from his store have been featured in “Stranger Things,” “MacGyver,” “The Walking Dead,” “Atlanta” and “Hidden Figures,” to name a few. Mr. Lucas plans to actively grow and expand his company into other areas. He plans to develop a stronger drapery and linens department, 3-D printing to duplicate vintage items that no longer can be found, and having a stock of various special effects items. He likes to donate to many charitable organizations and is a member of the International Alliance of Stage and Theatrical Employees Local 44.
