Title: Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic
Company: DTE Energy
Location: Warren, Michigan. United States
Duane O. Davis, Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic at DTE Energy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in welding and diesel mechanics technology.
Mr. Davis became involved in his profession because he was trying things out on his own and liked putting things together. He would pull things apart to figure out how they worked. He was 12 years old when he began working on cars. His dad was a TV repairperson so he learned electronics from him. He left home at a young age and worked for a farmer, while there he was allowed to use his truck starting his desire to work on vehicles. Mr. Davis took coursework in diesel mechanics technology at the Michigan Career and Technical Institute and coursework in welding technology at Macomb Community College. Upon completion of his coursework, he earned a Master Heavy Duty Truck Certificate.
Mr. Davis’ most notable achievement was working for Central Transport where they received patents for the things they built. He began his career in 1992 as a heavy-duty truck mechanic with DTE Energy, where he remains to this day. Civically, he is a deacon for the Vandyke Baptist Church. He is very involved in his church, and hope to partake in missionary trips in the future once he retires. He also volunteered in Puerto Rico after the hurricane devastated the island. As a testament to his success, Mr. Davis received training awards and was inducted as a member of Motor Heads for Christ. In the next few years, Mr. Davis wants to branch out and perhaps work on his art. He likes making things from leftover scraps.
