Sam Masih, Owner of Tanti Baci Restaurant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in restaurant management.
A native of Cairo, Egypt, Mr. Masih has had a passion for food from an early age. Immigrating to the United States, he first entered the accounting industry, in which he was backed by a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, both in accounting from Tanta University. Serving as a financial controller in New York for several years, he soon realized that he would be able to see his children more often if he entered the food industry. Thus, Tanti Baci Restaurant came to fruition in Greenwich Village in 1992. In 2009, Mr. Masih relocated the restaurant to the Lake Mohawk Plaza in Sparta, New Jersey, which he proudly calls “home.”
Tanti Baci Restaurant offers premier Italian cuisine and ambiance with a variety of different services, including individual dining experiences to on-premise parties and catering events at homes and offices. Lauded by The New York Times, the restaurant was honored as “the kind of basic, time-honored Italian preparations allowing the freshness of the ingredients to shine through.” Tanti Baci Restaurant has won several accolades over the course of its existence, including Best of County “Chopped” Champion in 2008, in which Mr. Masih was the first individual in his county to receive the honor.
Likewise, Tanti Baci Restaurant was voted Best Italian Restaurant in 2009, among the Best 100 Restaurants in New York State by Time Out New York in 2010, and was recognized for Excellence in Customer Service in 2010 and 2011. Looking toward the future, Mr. Masih intends to venture further into the food industry by making their own pasta for retail consumption. He would also like to expand his business to more locations.
The proud father of two children, Samantha and Maximous, Mr. Masih is also a certified public accountant, a designation he received in 2004. Alongside his primary pursuits, he has volunteered for Pass It Along and Project Self Sufficiency. He attributes his success to his mentor, Big Nick, who served as a beacon of support and encouragement over the years.
