Troy Beck, Director of Instruction at Troy Beck Golf Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in golf.
Ms. Beck decided on her profession after tagging along with friends of her father on a golf trip in California. She found a cheap place to stay and worked at a country club, in which she developed a fond enjoyment for the environment and game of golf. Upon playing golf with a friend, she grew to become phenomenal in the sport, serving as a pioneer for female golfers. Backed by a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Science in physical education, she is currently the director of instruction at the Troy Beck Golf Academy. Notably, Ms. Beck was one of the first females in the PGA. She joined the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA) as a professional golfer in 1981. She played in the U.S. Open in 1984 and 1985, McDonald’s LPGA Championship in 1994 and 1995 and in 13 other LPGA Tour Events. From 2003 to 2007, Ms. Beck was the LPGA section president for the National LPGA Board.
Looking back on her illustrious career, Ms. Beck’s highlight is being the second LGPA member to win the Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award in 2008. She is also proud of the young adults she has helped by the use of golf to attend college. As a testament to her success, Ms. Beck has received myriad awards including, but not limited to, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the PGA President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition. Likewise, she was named a Top 50 Instructor for Mid-Atlantic PGA by Golf Magazine in 2005, was named MAPGA Women’s Player of the Year in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 2003 and was the first female inducted into the MAPGA Hall of Fame in 2020. She attributes her success to hard work, dedication and time management.
