Interested in science since her formative years, Ms. Oerter took it upon herself to learn more about nutrition and how to live a healthier life. Earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in 1971, she went on to achieve a Master of Science in business management from Cardinal Stritch College in 1993. Ms. Oerter commenced her career as a medical technologist for Mercy Medical Center from 1970 to 1976. Moving on to Iola Hospital, she was a medical technologist from 1978 to 1986 and a wellness consultant for one year. She brought her services to Riverside Medical Center, excelling as a wellness consultant from 1986 to 1995 and as a coordinator from 1987 to 1995. At this time, Ms. Oerter left her medical career to spearhead her own business in health and wellness. In 1994, she became the owner and president of Pro Health Consul, Inc. in Waupaca, Wisconsin. Utilizing her medical background, Ms. Oerter spends much of her time working with the long-term medically ill and elderly.

Additionally, Ms. Oerter has served as the owner of Garden Park House since 1994, Green Fountain Inn Bed and Breakfast since 1995 and Secret Garden Café since 2003. Named Small Business of the Year in 2013 by the local Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Oerter had the idea to take a Victorian home and transform it into a happy and beautiful space for the community, which has become the highlight of her career. Notably, she was also the recipient of an Athena Award in 2003. Presently, Ms. Oerter maintains affiliation with the National Association of Female Executives, National Platform Association, American School Health Association, Waupaca Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Wisconsin Bed & Breakfast Association. She was previously involved with the Teacher Fox Valley College, Overeaters Anonymous, Bethany Nursing Home, Community Health Action Team, Living the Waupaca Way, National Wellness Institute, American Lung Association and American Institute for Preventative Medicine. To attest to her legacy, Ms. Oerter can also be found in various editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
