May Shigetomi, Owner of Yakko-San, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the food industry.
Inspired by her love for food and cooking, Ms. Shigetomi and her husband, who is a chef, chose to spearhead their own restaurant. For the past 20 years, since 2000, she has been the owner of Yakko-San, a renowned Japanese restaurant. Ms. Shigetomi’s most notable achievements since opening her establishment have been receiving national awards, including a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for five years and a Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame. She also holds awards for one of the Best Japanese Restaurants in America and the Best Late Night Food in the USA. As a testament to her success, Ms. Shigetomi has been named America’s Most Honored Professional in 2016.
Ms. Shigetomi believes that when you consume exceptional food and drink, the quality of your life improves. Since her husband is a chef, she eats well and enjoys being knowing the quality control of the food, as well as knowing where it comes from. With a passion for creating things, alongside her love for food, she will constantly change the furniture of Yakko-San in order to create a different look and atmosphere so customers are never bored. Notably, she has been inducted as a member of the Florida Restaurant Association and the local Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Shigetomi matriculated at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1998 and a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1998. She then received a Bachelor of Arts in pharmacy technician/assistant from Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2005.
