Working in the restaurant industry from a young age, Mr. Carreno Valladolid initially intended to open a business with his wife in Mexico. However, he was approached by his wife’s father, who offered to help Mr. Carreno Valladolid spearhead a business in the United States. After seven months of remodeling, Margherita’s Grille was founded in Girard, Ohio and the restaurant has flourished for nearly 15 years. In his position as executive chef and owner, Mr. Carreno Valladolid prepares fine cuisine and oversees the daily operations of the restaurant.
Offering unique slices of pizza alongside authentic Italian dishes, Margherita’s Grille has been extensively featured in magazines and newspapers, as well as on television. In light of the success of his restaurant, Mr. Carreno Valladolid intends to open new locations. Likewise, he is the owner of Gringa’s, a second restaurant that he oversees in Ohio, and coaches high school varsity boys’ soccer four times per week. While his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of overcoming the struggle of emigrating from Mexico to the United States, noting that his ability to persevere within the United States has allowed him to help others. Looking toward the future, he would like to also incorporate Mexico City-styled tacos into his businesses.
