Diane Elaine Pirlot, Special Education Educator at OUSD Ivey Ranch, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education and farm management.
Having accrued 50 years of experience in her eclectic career, Ms. Pirlot has excelled as an educator and business owner of various ventures. Since 1994, she has taught as a special education and elementary educator at OUSD Ivey Ranch in Oceanside, California. Inspired to help students with learning disabilities, she has flourished in her role and has touched the lives of numerous students throughout her 26-year career in teaching. Likewise, upon her business endeavors, Ms. Pirlot has been the owner of Farms of Ta-Dae since 2000 and the owner of Fairy Dust Farms since 2019. At her ranch of 20 acres, she cares for approximately 100 horses and puts on shows for visitors from near and far. At the start of her career, Ms. Pirlot was the owner of Welker’s Lodge, Inc., a resort in Grand Marais, Michigan, from 1970 to 2000. For those 30 years, she managed the family-run resort with excellence every summer it was in operation and eventually sold the resort after the passing of her mother.
Upon the distinguished civic endeavors in Ms. Pirlot’s life, she was a U.S. Representative on the Bicentennial Committee in Washington, D.C. in 1976. Additionally, she was president of the Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce from 1973 to 1977, president of the National Federation of Women’s Clubs in Grand Marais from 1977 to 1979 and leader of 4-H in Vista, California from 1994 to 2000. Matriculating at National University in La Jolla, California, Ms. Pirlot earned a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, as well as a teaching certification from the state of California. Presently, she maintains affiliation with the Special Education Caucus and Women’s Caucus of the National Education Association and CARS. She enjoys traveling and crafts in her spare time. To attest to her legacy, Ms. Pirlot can also be found in the 65th and 66th editions of Who’s Who in America and the 27th and 28th editions of Who’s Who of American Women.
