Ms. Lewis recalls discovering her passion for styling hair at the age of eight. A few decades later, she still holds that same love for helping people feel good about themselves and their appearance, which can ultimately affect a person’s personality. Backed by a business course from the Latin American Economic Development Association, Ms. Lewis has been a licensed cosmetologist by the state of New Jersey for 28 years. After showing her prowess at various salons throughout New Jersey, she spearheaded I Say Yes Salon and Spa, LLC in Delanco, New Jersey in 2012. As owner and president, Ms. Lewis utilizes her knowledge of makeup techniques and current fashion, along with her own creativity, imagination and talent, to create a beautiful finished product for her clients.
Prior to owning her salon, Ms. Lewis was the co-owner of H’venly Beauty Salon and Spa in Mt. Holly for 10 years until 2010. In addition, she had served in various management positions at Hair Cuttery in Lumberton, Sears Beauty Salon in Moorestown, Endivo Salon in Cherry Hill and Clique Salon and Spa in Burlington. To add to her expertise, she was a stylist at the McGuire Air Force Base Beauty Shop, as well as a lead color stylist and educator with Aveda. Taking her skills to Chicago, Illinois, Ms. Lewis represented South Jersey as an instructor for Naked by Essations.
Renewed for her impeccable skill, Ms. Lewis has been abundantly awarded throughout her career. Notably, she was granted a Certificate of Recognition from the American Cancer Society Wig Clinic’s “Look Good…Feel Better” Program. She also took home a Certificate of Achievement “For Successful Completion of the Latin American Economic Development Association Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (LAEDA)” from the Office of the Mayor and the Honorable Dana L. Ms. Lewis also holds a diploma certificate from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Ms. Lewis credits her vast career success to her clients and staff, as she would not be who she is, professionally, without them. She recalls some of the most exciting moments of her career have been being hired to do hair and makeup on films, commercials and print media advertisements for major brands. Congruent to her primary endeavors, she is an active member of Human Trafficking Girls at Rescue, WWITS and the American Cancer Society, as giving back to the community is her favorite aspect of work. In five years’ time, Ms. Lewis aims to have 10 mobile stands for her business, as well as a successful makeup and skincare line. To match her hustle, she hopes to spend some time relaxing on a beach in the near future.
