Heather Martinez, B.S. Ms. Martinez commenced her professional career as a medical instructor at Wright Career Colleges, where she later earned a Bachelor of Science in healthcare administration in 2015. In addition, she has also earned the titles of Certified Professional Coder, Certified Healthcare Compliance Officer and Certified Professional Coder Instructor, as well as Professional Medical Certified Coding Certifications and Licenses. Excelling in her role until 2016, Ms. Martinez taught a number of classes at Wright, including billing, coding and insurance reimbursement. As she progressed in her career, she desired to be her own boss in an area that was related to her field of study.

Since 2015, Ms. Martinez has flourished as the owner and instructor of Coding With Confidence LLC in Wichita, Kansas. Dedicated to her students by providing, delivering and teaching ethical medical coding and billing principles, Ms. Martinez provides a prep review for students that are taking the CPC-A, CPB, and COC exams, as well as low-cost CEUs in the areas of billing, coding, compliance, auditing, anatomy, and physiology. Likewise, she has written, published and copyrighted an ICD-10-CM Training Manual from 2015, which has been used by instructors in other college settings. She has also participated in the development of curriculum in the areas of billing, coding, compliance, and auditing.

Reflecting on her professional success, Ms. Martinez is proud that her student’s passing rates remain between 95 and 100 percent. Alongside her primary role, she has served as the vice president of the local Wichita chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders since 2010. She has also sat on the medical advisory board for Butler Community College since 2008 and sponsors students for her online coding course. Presently, she maintains affiliation with the American Academy of Professional Coders, American Health Information Management Association and American Institute of Healthcare Compliance. In five years’ time, she plans to get more credentials to offer more reviews at a lower cost in order to benefit students from various financial backgrounds.
