For as long as he can remember, Mr. Montgomery has been a custom knife enthusiast. In 2010, he decided to bring his enthusiasm to a new level, as he began the process of learning knife-making. Backed by coursework at the University of Phoenix and the University of Houston, he enrolled in several workshops hosted by the American Blade Smithing Society. In 2010, he became the owner, knife maker, and bladesmith for Serenity Knives in Houston, Texas. Prior to this venture, Mr. Montgomery gained valuable customer service experience by serving as a manager for the Sharpstown Ice Center and Starbucks Coffee Company.
Upon entering the knife making industry, Mr. Montgomery quickly found success. Just two years after crafting his first knife, he was commissioned to create steak knives for the Houston hot-spot, Oxheart. Other restaurants soon requested his exceptional wares, including Dallas’ Mansion on Turtle Creek and Las Vegas’ Bazaar Meat. To date, he has produced over 550 knives. Mr. Montgomery is renowned for his ability to create the perfect knife for any purpose, whether it be a chef’s knife, a razor or a machete.
Reflecting on his wealth of success, Mr. Montgomery credits his passion for his work. When he is making a knife, he experiences a true sense of calm, which is what provides him with the patience to create perfection from what was once just a slab of metal. Alongside creating knives, his business serves as a one-stop-shop for sharpening and refurbishing knives. Furthermore, he loves conversing with his customers. Looking toward the future, he would like to venture into full production, which would include having his knives widely manufactured. Mr. Montgomery and his services recently went mobile, and he is excited to continue making his business more easily accessible to every one of his customers.
