Mr. Buttery began his career completing car restorations before shifting his attention to home improvement. Progressing in his abilities, he further flourished with bigger commercial property work until finding success in design and metal fabrication. Reflecting on his upbringing, he recalls becoming inspired by his father, who was a jack-of-all-trades and a skilled mechanic that specialized in restoration work on older cars. Proud to follow his father’s example through metalwork, Mr. Buttery attributes all of his professional success to his father’s influence, as he taught him about the key principles of the industry and the importance of continued learning.

Notably, Mr. Buttery has excelled as the owner and operator of Black Lab Metal Fab since 2012, as well as the owner and operator of DB Designs since 2005. In addition, he has found success as a general mechanic and body shop technician with New York State Parks, Recreation and Preservation since 2011. Prior to his current posts, he worked as a park ranger at Niagara Falls State Park from 2001 to 2011. Looking back on his career trajectory, he cites the highlight of his professional efforts was a dragon that he crafted for the film “True Adventures of Wolf Boy,” which was recently released. In the coming years, Mr. Buttery plans to take part in more community service work for his town in addition to seeking larger projects.
