Supported by an associate’s degree from Louisiana State University since 1979, Ms. Rigby has gained vast expertise within the areas of cosmetology, nursing and real estate in her professional endeavors. Passionate about styling hair since her youth, she went on to attend beauty school 30 miles from her home in order to attain her beauty license. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Rigby established her beauty shop right next to her house, where she excelled as a cosmetologist and beauty operator for 18 years, and specialized in hair and manicures. In addition, she received a real estate license and worked in the industry for two and a half years, and served as the chairperson of a subdivision for a local charity.
In her second major career, Ms. Rigby flourished as a nurse supervisor at the Central Louisiana State Hospital for two decades. While working in the medical field, she assisted doctors in surgery for three years before focusing on psychiatric nursing. Ms. Rigby cites that her five children inspired her to become a nurse, as she grew her skills in patience and kindness through caring for them, leading her to find a deeper connection in caring for all people.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Rigby plans to continue making her jewelry and rosaries, as well as performing repairs for her fellow congregants at church through her business, Creations by Elia. At her most recent entrepreneurial endeavor, she and her sister were featured in a local paper to discuss rosaries. Likewise, they have been met with great acclaim throughout the community.
