H. Patricia Whalen-Shaw, LMT, BCTMB, RCST, owner, president, educator, and massage therapist at Integrated Touch Therapy, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in bodywork and massage therapy.

Since 1992, Ms. Whalen-Shaw has been the owner of Integrated Touch Therapy, Inc., bringing bodywork to the animal world both as a licensed massage therapist and specialized practitioner for cats, dogs, and horses, and as a massage and touch therapy instructor who has worked with thousands of students throughout her career. A graduate of the Central Ohio School of Massage, Ms. Whalen-Shaw is nationally certified by the National Certification Board in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and holds additional credentials in sports massage, Reiki, acupressure, and several equine therapies. Ms. Whalen-Shaw has lived with animals her entire life and participated in dressage and horse eventing since she was young. She describes her calling to bodywork arising out of “a horse connection”- having participated in horse shows and dressage from a young age, Ms. Whalen-Shaw recognized both the effort that each animal put forth during competition and how hard the tasks could be on their bodies.

Ms. Whalen-Shaw developed a range of pet massage techniques as a part of her commitment to helping heal and honor them, and she operates both the Integrated Touch Therapy office and Synergy Farm, a treatment and training facility in Central Ohio, in order to best serve her patients and help train new practitioners. She describes her workdays as “never the same,” with work on animal clients at her office or on location at horse barns or private homes in addition to teaching. Throughout her career, she has worked with Grand Prix Dressage horses and horses competing in roping and reining events, Schutzhund, nose work, and canine agility competitors, and has taught equine massage at Otterbein College. Ms. Whalen-Shaw has also been selected as an official massage therapist for competitors at the 1996 Paralympic Games, the 1999 Pan Am Games, and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Outside her work, Ms. Whalen-Shaw remains passionate about animals, and she lives with several rescue horses, several of whom are disabled. She is a co-founder and past President of Optissage, Inc., a longtime member of the American Association of University Women and American Massage Therapy Association, and spent more than 20 years active in Circle Junior Women. Ms. Whalen-Shaw has been previously featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Executives and Businesses. She attributes her success to perseverance and looks forward to completing two more books and building her online class offerings in the coming years.
