Bridget Sargent Lesizza, Owner of The Reef Shack, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in restaurant management.
Ms. Lesizza and her husband had always wanted to own a business together, so they decided to open a family-friendly casual restaurant in a landmark building near the beach in Fairfield, Connecticut. Despite her husband’s enthusiasm, Ms. Lesizza initially had doubts due to her lack of experience in the restaurant industry. After hearing that a local store had chosen not to renew their lease, Ms. Lesizza and her husband took over the location, opening The Reef Shack in 2020. Ms. Lesizza was fortunate to have built her business plan with pandemic-related health and safety regulations in mind, installing outdoor seating, updating the building HVAC to the highest-level circulation, and putting in a takeout window. Before opening The Reef Shack, Ms. Lesizza excelled in business leadership, founding Strider Consulting in 2009. She was named senior director of marketing at Workwell Partners in 2018, building on earlier positions as business development manager at Openx, senior marketing manager at babycenter.com, and senior manager of sales planning operations at AOL.
Mrs. Lesizza attributes her success to a focus on quality in staffing and ingredients, and understanding the landscape and needs of the community. She has seen other entrepreneurs start up a business because they wanted one without understanding the needs of the business, and did extensive market research as a part of her commitment to avoiding the same pitfalls and offering a diverse menu. As a testament to her success, Mrs. Lesizza was named to Marquis Who’s Who Top Professionals in 2021, following in the footsteps of her father, Joseph Sargent.
