Company: Cavaretta’s Italian Deli
Location: Simi Valley, California, United States
David Weisberg, co-owner at Cavaretta’s Italian Deli, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in dining and hospitality.
A natural entrepreneur with a taste for quality food and an eye for customer service, Mr. Weisberg began making and selling cinnamon sticks at school as a child and entered the industry at the age of fifteen with a job at a local butcher shop. Cavaretta’s Italian Deli has stood as an area fixture since 1959, and he began working at the restaurant in 1985. Beginning as a dishwasher, he soon advanced to the role of a counter clerk and took over a wide range of responsibilities around the restaurant. In 1995, Mr. Weisberg left Cavaretta’s to become a manager at Green Acres Market Catering Company, seeking an opportunity to develop more experience in different restaurant environments.
Mr. Weisberg remained with Green Acres Market Catering Company until 1999, when he was granted the opportunity to buy Cavaretta’s Italian Deli. He has been co-owner of Cavaretta’s since 2000, where he is responsible for the majority of daily operations, including hiring, training and scheduling employees, ordering and preparing food, and specialty culinary items. Cavaretta’s has won dozens of awards for its food and service, including recognition as the Best Sandwich Shop in 2020 and third place in the 2019 Los Angeles Food and Wine Festival. Mr. Weisberg donates food to area hospitals and community events and is a regular volunteer at West Hills Hospital. He attributes his success to his propensity for humbleness, kindness and customer service, and hopes to continue his work for years to come while developing new ways to reach more people and operate more efficiently.
