Born and raised in Mexico, Mr. Garcia remembers the delicious food his mother and grandmother would make, which influenced the beginning of his nostalgia for Mexican cuisine. Upon arriving in the United States in 2004, he worked in construction until 2008, when he had an opportunity to work in the kitchen of a hospital. During this time, Mr. Garcia was reunited with his passion for food and watched the head chef masterfully run the kitchen and assemble many different kinds of food. From this experience, he desired to spearhead his own restaurant, however, first gaining additional expertise as a bartender, assistant manager and line cook at local restaurants, as well as a food truck operator from 2016 to 2018.
In 2018, Mr. Garcia officially opened La Bamba Mexican Grill Restaurant in El Mirage, Arizona. Quickly becoming a community staple, the establishment offers street tacos, quesadillas, tortas, handmade tortillas salsa, carne asada, pastor, huaraches and more. Notably, La Bamba Mexican Grill Restaurant has been highlighted by MSN, as well as recognized for Best Mexican Taco by Eat This, Don’t Eat This, Best 50 Restaurants in Valley by ABC News and 100 Restaurants of the Valley by the Phoenix News Times in 2019 and 2020. Motivated by customer satisfaction, Mr. Garcia attributes his success to his attention to detail and his wonderful customers, as well as his Christian faith. Looking toward the future, he aims to open a bigger restaurant, offer work to more families and inspire others with his story. Mr. Garcia is backed by coursework in engineering from Universidad Veracruzana.
