Kevin Dale Safley, Owner and Secretary of Oregon Transmission and Diesel Center Inc. DBA Town Center Automotive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in automotive service and maintenance.

Mr. Safley is the owner and manager of Town Center Automotive, a full-service auto repair and maintenance shop offering everything from oil changes to fleet maintenance and transmission service since 2018. His lifelong passion for automotive service began with a childhood fascination with muscle cars, and he dedicated 23 years of service as a diesel mechanic in the United States Army before opening the shop. He joined the Army in 1995 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and served on active duty during deployments in Bosnia and Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom, rising to become a maintenance platoon sergeant by the time of his retirement. He is extensively decorated for his service, bearing an Army Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army Achievement Medal with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters as well as special recognition for his service overseas, including a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

In addition to his Army service and training, Mr. Safley continued to work in the auto industry as a civilian, beginning in 2008 as a maintenance manager for Axis Crane. From 2011 until 2013, he was the owner of Cottman Transmission, stepping down to spend a year as a journeyman auto technician at a Jubitz Truck Center before returning to the military as a manager, consultant, and K&M Maintenance Company First Sergeant for a United States Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation program. Mr. Safley holds a Bachelor of Arts in mechanical engineering from the University of Rochville and has completed additional coursework in mechanical engineering and AutoCAD, hydraulics, and business through Penn Foster, Clark College, and Linn Benton Community College. Since opening his first shop in 2018, Mr. Safley has expanded Town Center Automotive to include a second location with twelve employees, an accomplishment he considers to be a career highlight. He prides himself on providing honest and trustworthy recommendations to clients and offering his staff the leadership and stability that they need to succeed at all times.

Mr. Safley is a member of the Automotive Service Association, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is vice president of the Clackamas Chamber of Commerce. He emphasizes that his work feels almost like a hobby to him and that he continues to enjoy it as much as he did when he entered the field. Mr. Safley is active in community service, and has held car care workshops for the public in addition to supporting youth services and cancer care charities. In the coming years, he hopes to open another Town Center Automotive location and move to a more relaxed, management-focused role.
