Michele Konopko Lawson, owner and stylist at Hair and Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in salon ownership and nonprofit leadership.
While working in a family friend’s salon as a child, Ms. Lawson began to develop a desire to pursue a career in the beauty industry. Growing up, she enjoyed being able to create with her natural artistic ability and she admired the lifestyle of positiveness that was associated with hairstyling. Thereafter, she obtained a degree in cosmetology from the Morris County Vocational School. Beginning in 1989, she established herself as the owner and a stylist at Hair and Company. She is honored to maintain the enchanting vibe and success of the salon with a focus on best practices within the local business community, top-notch customer care, a comfortable atmosphere, and maintaining a talented staff of stylists.
Ms. Lawson has found additional success as the founder and president of Wig Warriors the Maureen S. Konopko Foundation since 2018. Along with her three sons, one of whom serves as vice president of the foundation, she founded Wig Warriors in an effort to help women navigate through the cosmetic side effects associated with cancer treatments. By mapping out an individual plan for each of her clients, she is committed to providing assistance beginning at diagnosis and remaining throughout the duration of treatment. She is proud to have named the foundation after her stepmother.
Ms. Lawson has continued her service as a volunteer, a wig coordinator and a look good feel better facilitator with the American Cancer Society from 2001 to 2019. Since 2016, she has provided haircuts for the local homeless population through Habcore Housing the Homeless. For her accomplishments, Ms. Lawson is proud to have been presented with the Look Good, Feel Better Sunrise Award from the American Cancer Society in 2012. Looking toward the future, she aims to continue to grow her business and foundation. Above all, she is encouraged by the community and clientele who support the business even during the most difficult times.
