At the start of his career, Mr. Phong began working at Welco Supermarket, his family’s business when he was 12 years old. For the next 10 years, he learned about serving customers, inventory tracking, logistics, marketing, and operations. At 19 years old, he was first introduced to the food and beverage industry upon working as the general manager at Casino Marysville, where he also managed a full restaurant and bar, for eight years. Pivoting to a new role, Mr. Phong became a stay-at-home dad after the birth of his first son but sought something new to do after two years of full-time parenting.
In 2014, Mr. Phong set out to create a menu of delicious food from his wife Eva’s original recipes. For the past seven years, he has excelled as the owner of Chason’s Crab Stadium in Elk Grove, California. A destination for seafood lovers, Chason’s quickly rose to prominence and established itself as the Top Seafood Restaurant in Elk Grove by Yelp, Trip Advisor, and ThreeBestRated, having also been featured in the Sacramento Business Journal. Notably, he was featured on local television and a news broadcast on Fox 40 in July 2022. Mr. Phong attributes his success to the gift of hospitality, networking and building relationships.
Backed by an Associate of Arts, Mr. Phong continues to dedicate his career to ensuring customer satisfaction and providing delicious, quality food. In five years’ time, he aims to continue creating an impeccable experience at Chason’s, while also participating in charities and giving back to the community. Currently, he sponsors community events and holds membership with the Rotary Club of Elk Grove and the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Phong also aims to continue living and working by the motto “Promote happiness.”
