Lori-ellen Pisani, president and founder of Simply Speaking LEP LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health and education.

Drawing upon her childhood experience in a dysfunctional and abusive household, Dr. Pisani has made it her life’s mission to provide assistance and a safe haven for children facing similar struggles. Dedicated to providing equal opportunities for children who hail from all walks of life, she found success as a teacher of children with special needs from kindergarten through second grade for nearly 20 years and an assistant principal for over 15 years. Presently, through Simply Speaking LEP, she aims to address such topics as mental health, abandonment, depression, anxiety and dysfunctional family relationships through social media platforms and webinars. In addition, she provides interactive services and webinars pertaining to her memoir, “The Journey Home.” Moreover, Dr. Pisani offers motivational psychotherapy for individual clients and has conducted radio and television interviews addressing topics of mental health and coping mechanisms.

Dr. Pisani obtained a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Farleigh Dickinson University, from which she graduated as salutatorian in 1985. She went on to obtain a master’s degree, cum laude, in counseling and human development from Long Island University in 1994 and a doctorate in modern psychoanalysis and psychotherapy from the International University for Graduate Studies in 1998. Dr. Pisani later earned a specialist diploma in school administration and supervision from Queens College in 2002.

A testament to her education and training, Dr. Pisani believes that special needs students do not need to be segregated, but must instead be included in general education classrooms in order to thrive in educational settings. She is pleased to have observed the progress of a special needs student who began to perform excellently after being integrated into her general education class. Above all, Dr. Pisani always teaches her students to embrace one another and remain curious.

Dedicated to making the world a more hospitable place, Dr. Pisani is gratified to have participated in a mission trip to Nicaragua in order to build an orphanage and a church. Additionally, she is credited with opening a school in Nigeria and sponsoring a child from the age of five. For her accomplishments, she is honored that her school district named a street “Dr. Pisani Way” in her honor. Furthermore, she is proud to have been presented with the We Are One Award for her efforts of bridging the gap between special needs and general education. Looking toward the future, Dr. Pisani seeks to establish herself as a global presence by helping others grow and find peace of mind and heart.
