For more than 28 years, Mr. Brown has dedicated himself to the beauty industry, specializing in cuts, color, and styling for men, women, and children. Fascinated by hairstyling for most of his life, Mr. Brown began his career working in a local factory before deciding to pursue his passion for the beauty industry in the early 1990s. He started as a stylist in 1993 at Gould’s Salon Spa, a Memphis fixture and regional chain of high-end destination salons, rising to become a manager over the course of his next 26 years with the company.

In 2019, Mr. Brown left Gould’s Salon Spa to fulfill his dream of opening his own salon. He currently works alone with just the help of an assistant, offering clients a full range of special event styles, cuts, corrective and fashion color, and texture services. Mr. Brown is a certified color specialist and keratin treatment provider and is constantly traveling to industry conventions and workshops in order to stay on the leading edge of trends in the field. He has received awards and accolades for his work throughout his career and credits his long-term success to the way he treats others and putting God first in his life. Mr. Brown is dedicated to ensuring that each client leaves the salon happy, satisfied, and ready to return.

In addition to managing his clientele and overseeing the operations of Brown & Mayes Salon, Mr. Brown is committed to community involvement, donating services to pediatric cancer patients and their families through Target House and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for three decades. His fundraising efforts have raised more than $150,000 for various churches and charities, and he has volunteered for and performed with the Divas of Divinity group. In his spare time, Mr. Brown enjoys gardening and renovating his home, which he considers being one of his greatest accomplishments, and is proud to be both a homeowner and a business owner. Mr. Brown plans to maintain his salon and clientele for as long as possible, adding that “when you’re doing what you love to do, nothing ever feels like work.”
