Mark S. Olson, owner of GardenCrafters Landscape and Design, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in custom landscape design and construction.
Since 1988, Mr. Olson has been providing homeowners in the Bay Area with creative, high-quality landscape planning and remodeling as the owner of GardenCrafters Landscape and Design. A licensed contractor, Mr. Olson initially began working in construction during the summers as a way to pay his tuition at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was studying science. He soon realized that he enjoyed the immediate gratification that came from building and landscaping and started GardenCrafters in response. Mr. Olson specializes in remodeling outdoor spaces and landscapes and prides himself in his ability to design open spaces that complement his clients’ lifestyles while highlighting the beauty of the homes they surround.
GardenCrafters handles all aspects of clients’ outdoor spaces, including decks and patios, fireplaces, lighting, and water features, and places plants from around the world while equipping homeowners to properly care for them. A horticulture expert, Mr. Olson has written articles for major publications about climate-appropriate landscaping, erosion prevention, wildlife control, and more. He spent ten years as a guide for the Sierra Club, currently sits on the board of the Glen Cove Landscape Review Committee, and is a member of the California Landscape Contractors Association and both the Bay Area and Sacramento Garden Clubs. GardenCrafters Landscape and Design has been voted the Best of the East Bay in Landscape Design each year since 2012, and Mr. Olson attributes his company’s lasting success to delivering quality work for many years and working well with clients. Within five years, he hopes to transition to working primarily on landscape design, retiring from construction, and spending more time hiking, mountain climbing, and skiing.
