Ms. Vermillion is a fitness instructor and entrepreneur dedicated to making exercise accessible to seniors, cancer patients, and those with chronic pain as the owner and director of BEV, LLC and Healthy Steps. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from George Washington University and an Associate of Science in gerontology, and is a certified ASFA and ACE Group Fitness Instructor and American Red Cross CPR instructor with additional credentials to teach chronic disease self-management education, Walk With Ease, and Arthritis Aqua classes. Before entering the health and fitness industry, Ms. Vermillion spent 20 years as the Director of Materials Management for American Medical Laboratories. In 1990, she transitioned into an administrative and patient care position with Sunrise Assisted Living, rising from a nursing assistant to become a shift supervisor before her departure in 1997.
From 1997 until 2011, Ms. Vermillion served as the Director of Resident Services at Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community, and between 2011 and 2013, she was a resource specialist for Fauquier, Orange, and Rappahannock Counties. Inspired by her time working with assisted living residents and her own experiences living with chronic pain, Ms. Vermillion started BEV, LLC in 2013 to share the Lebed method of lymphatic system-supportive exercise with others and teach Healthy Steps lifestyle and movement classes. Ms. Vermillion was one of the first instructors to adapt the Healthy Steps program for use in aqua settings, and she is a Chronic Disease Self-Management Master Trainer and the facilitator of several peer support groups for persons with dementia and lymphedema. A strong believer in the idea that “life is good at any age,” Ms. Vermillion hopes to continue her work teaching and counseling others and empowering others to continue living their best lives.
