Title: Co-Owner
Company: SERVPRO of Western O’Fallon/Wentzville
Location: Wentzville, Missouri, United States
Joanne C. Young, co-owner at SERVPRO of Western O’Fallon/Wentzville, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of entrepreneurship.
Having worked alongside her husband for more than two decades in the interior electronics industry, during which time they endured through multiple cycles of layoffs, Ms. Young pursued an Associate of Science in business management from the University of Phoenix. After graduating in 2009, she rose to a management position in her company. Serving in this position from 2010 until 2017, she lamented at seeing yet another round of layoffs strike those working underneath her, which inspired her to venture out alongside her husband and purchase a SERVPRO franchise in Western O’Fallon/Wentzville in 2017. A fire, water and mold remediation company, SERVPRO notably provides home restoration for homes and businesses that have suffered damage from the aforementioned sources, which now includes the COVID-19 virus.
In her capacity as the co-owner of the SERVPRO location, Ms. Young serves as an office manager and regularly undertakes job file audits, accounting and supply requisition, as well as helping her employees when necessary. She is especially proud that her franchise can boast a low turnover rate of employees, since they strive to foster a positive work environment that promotes the retention of trustworthy and caring employees. For this, they have garnered several awards, including recognition as a 5-Star Work Place, a Director’s Bronze Award from SERVPRO in 2019, and nomination as both the Business of the Year and by Star Business Monthly.
In accounting for her success, Ms. Young credits her detail-oriented nature, as well as her strength of character, loyalty and dedication to the field. Well qualified in her field, she was certified for fire and smoke restoration by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration. Ms. Young maintains her company’s membership with the O’Fallon and Western St. Charles County Chambers of Commerce, and she is personally a member of the Habitat for Humanity, G3 Business Networking International and Little Black Book, which is a professional organization dedicated to educating women in business. Looking toward the future, she aspires to lead her company from strength to strength and expand the scope of their operations.
