Jennifer Barrios, Owner and Director of Operations at B&B Food Service, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in food processing and distribution.
Ms. Barrios is the owner and director of operations at B&B Food Service, a wholesale food distributor specializing in serving Mexican cuisine, taquerias, and mariscos restaurants. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she worked as a research associate in the University of Illinois Survey Research Lab while studying. In 2003, she co-founded A Classic Affair, staying to run the company for the next three years, and in 2005, she was named a project lead for El Burrito Loco, where she would remain until 2011. She entered the food services industry to help her father, an entrepreneur, but quickly found her passion in the field’s fast pace and constant changes. She joined B&B Food Service in 2012 as operations manager and took over the company in 2016.
Under Ms. Barrios’ guidance, B&B Food Service has developed private-label lines of beans, dairy products, and spices and opened a USDA-certified meat processing facility for sliced and diced meat products. After struggling to find commercial real estate that suited the growing company’s needs, Ms. Barrios led the development of a processing and storage facility including test kitchens, processing and packing areas, and temperature- and humidity-controlled food storage. Ms. Barrios has been featured in Food Industry News and hopes to continue to create new innovations through her work with B&B Food Service. Outside of her work, Ms. Barrios is an avid distance runner who has completed the Chicago Marathon, and coordinates fundraisers and other events on behalf of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
