Anthony C. “Tony” Edwards, Owner, President and Chief Executive Officer at Carolina Dune Buggies, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mechanics.
At the age of 13, Mr. Edwards and his father built his first dune buggy, the California Clipper. After finding numerous victories with his dune buggy at car shows, his fascination with vehicles, particularly Volkswagens, only continued to grow and inspired him to make more award-winning buggies, VWs, and kit cars. Since 2013, Mr. Edwards has excelled as the owner, president and chief executive officer of Carolina Dune Buggies located in Eden, North Carolina. Specializing in air-cooled VW and Corvair-powered vehicles, Carolina Dune Buggies is focused on providing the Dune Buggy, Kit Car and VW market top-of-the-line fiberglass bodies, chassis and accessories.
Finding great success in his work, Mr. Edwards has showcased his skill on the television show “Carolina Dune Buggies,” having also been featured in a documentary and in the Greensboro Newspaper. Alongside his entrepreneurial feat, Mr. Edwards is also the founder of Carolina Dune Buggy Productions. Over the years, he has served in multiple civic roles, including as a board member of the YMCA, chairman of the board of the Eden Chamber of Commerce, secretary of Eden Gideons and president of the Eden Rotary Club for 12 years. During this time, he had been named Jaycee of the Year by the North Carolina Junior Chamber and a Partner in Education by Morehead Hospital.
Prior to spearheading his business, Mr. Edwards had been working for large companies for 15 years. Having studied 1,080 hours of electronics in high school, he started working for a company in his area as a helper, climbing up the ranks to a machine designer. After receiving his electrical contractor’s license for the state of North Carolina, he did automation work at huge automation companies including R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Procter & Gamble and Albert Labs. With his vast experience, he is proud to have created a world-renowned buggy business that sells products across 42 states. Looking ahead, Mr. Edwards envisions himself continuing to grow his business and allowing more people to experience “where the fun begins” through his company’s service.
