Passionate for cooking and restaurant management, Mr. Bogart recalls he grew up cooking with his grandfather, with a lot of their cooking done outside at campfires, and with a wood-burning oven. During these formative years, he developed the dream to open his own restaurant, leading him to earn an Associate of Arts in restaurant, culinary and catering management from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2003. Shortly thereafter, he took on his first professional, fine dining role as a chef at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in 2006, remaining until 2014. Between 2015 and 2020, he had also been an executive chef at McCormick & Schmick’s, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille and Nelson Restaurant Group Inc., as well as general manager and chef at White Bison Vail.
Since 2020, Mr. Bogart has excelled as the chef and owner of Oak on Camelback Restaurant, which caters to American cuisine with global influences. He purchased the restaurant in February 2020 and three weeks after the transfer of ownership, the restaurant was shut down by the city due to the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Focusing on takeout orders, he had one cook and revamped the entire operation into a digital one, which became quite successful. Despite being met with early setbacks, Mr. Bogart is proud to have his restaurant fully running while still following safety procedures. He attributes his success to his discipline and dedication to the industry, as well as his passion for cooking and the operational aspect of the restaurant business. Looking toward the future, he hopes for the continued success of his establishment and also aims to add multiple locations in and outside of Arizona.
