Ms. Tennyson obtained a Bachelor of Science in business administration in management and operations in 1981 from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. She excelled as a financial services advisor for North Star Resource Group in St. Paul from 1981 to 1983 and a financial reporting analyst for Control Data Corporation in Edina from 1983 to 1986. From 1986 to 2018, Ms. Tennyson made an impact as the chief operating officer for Michaud Cooley Erickson, one of the largest mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firms in the United States. Additionally, she was active as the chief human resources officer with the Wayside Women’s Treatment Center, a leading addiction treatment center in Edina from 2020 to 2021.
Ms. Tennyson has been recognized as an Outstanding LGBTQ Graduate by the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business. She was also honored with a 50 Over 50 Disruptor Award from AARP and COMPASS. She considers her most notable achievement to have been her gender transition at age 57, which inspired her to begin working with behavioral authenticity as her area of expertise.
