Jon Renthrope, Owner at Cajun Fire Brewing Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in entrepreneurship.
Since 2011, Mr. Renthrope has excelled as owner, chief executive officer and brewmaster of the Cajun Fire Brewing Company, the first Black-owned brewing company in Louisiana and the fifth overall in the United States. Possessing a passion for producing a world-class beverage, he was significantly motivated to achieve his business goals after experiencing the destruction and displacement that was caused by Hurricane Katrina. He has been proud to craft and market products that are true to their historical roots, including the ‘Cajun Fire Honey Ale’, the ‘Blacktoberfest’, the ‘P-Train Funk’ Raspberry Milkshake IPA, ‘Big Chief Crème Stout’, and ‘Seed, Stalk, & Root’. Cajun Fire Brewing Company has notably raised over $700,000 for various local philanthropies and non-profit organizations.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Florida, Gainesville, in 2010, Mr. Renthrope later continued his education with a master’s degree in community development finance in 2018. He formerly prospered as a project director for Bridge Forest Investment Corporation and also worked for Capital One, Imperial Trading and several other organizations in previous years. Additionally, Mr. Renthrope had the pleasure of working at his alma mater, the University of Florida, as an entrepreneurship teacher.
What Mr. Renthrope defines as his greatest achievement is having a healthy marriage and raising two well-rounded children. Another one of his achievements is becoming a role model to other people by simply starting his own company. His example has motivated others to take a risk and invest in their own business. In the coming years, Mr. Renthrope is hoping to become a global citizen. He has been working very hard to be able to export his products in partnership with the Southern United States Trade Association.
