Tanya P. Dubuclet, Owner at Neyow’s Creole Cafe, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in restaurant management.

“Whatever my grandmother cooked, that’s what I cook,” says Ms. Dubuclet about her successful New Orleans restaurant, Neyow’s Creole Café, where authenticity and flavor are her watchwords. She was initially inspired to become a restaurateur for the simple fact that she wanted to take her children to a vacation to Astroworld in Houston and began cooking in the Creole traditions of Lousiana. Thus, what started as a simple effort of a mother to take her children to a vacation grew into a successful career.

Despite no formal culinary training, Ms. Dubuclet has run several successful restaurants in an over two-decade career that includes Milan’s Creole Café in Gentilly beginning in the mid-1990s. As the New Orleans region recovered from the flooding associated with Hurricane Katrina in 2005, she temporarily retired as a restaurateur and went to work for her husband Timothy’s construction firm, TSD Builders. Missing cooking, Ms. Dubuclet began hosting house suppers, charging by the plate, and before long an extended network of friends was meeting up at her Gentilly home once per week.

After purchasing a former pizzeria, Ms. Dubuclet turned to her grandmother for authentic Creole recipes and her mother Tekakwitha, daughter Tara and sons Jared, Jordan and Johnson have also taken turns working at the restaurant, which became such a success that the money was there to build a catering hall, Neyow’s Palace, across the street. In 2016, Neyow’s Creole Café moved to a newer and more spacious location, and recently opened a branch in Houston. Ms. Dubuclet hopes to add a fourth location in the near future and considers her most notable achievement to be the relationship she has built with her customers over the years.
