After obtaining an Associate of Arts from St. Petersburg Colleg in Florida, Ms. Miller followed with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications with emphasis on broadcasting from the University of South Florida in Tampa in 1990. She excelled for over a decade in broadcast news as a producer with WFLA-TV from 1990 to 1994, with WRAL-TV from 1994 to 1999 and as a senior producer with WRAL from 1999 to 2001, garnering an Emmy Award, Nashville/Midsouth Chapter from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Ms. Miller thereupon decided that she wanted to start a new profession that involved more opportunities to interact with more people. Manicuring had always been her hobby, which clarified that the best career path was to own a spa business.
Operating her business against negative stereotypes held by most people about African-American businesses helped Ms. Miller develop a healthy reputation for her company and employees. She maintains that instead of allowing preconceived notions to define her or her company, she used it as the fuel to establish her spa and grow it successfully. She made sure that her business operated only with quality and professionalism, encouraging her employees to live up to the standard consistently.
