Richard Mummaw, Owner at Triple R Specialty, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in manufacturing and distributing firefighting equipment.
In 1986 Mr. Mummaw founded and is the current owner and operator of Triple R Specialty (TRS), a premier manufacturer of plumbing and fire protection specialty tools in Jacksonville. TRS manufactures quality products for the fire sprinkler trade including hydrostatic test pumps, G-2 portable groover series, Tru-Drill hole drilling machine, universal drop nipple wrench and hydrostatic test pumps with pressure ranges from 200 psi to 2000 psi.
Mr. Mummaw attributes his career accomplishments to what he describes as “stick-to-it-tiveness.” According to his wife, he is a perfectionist, in which he agrees. Since founding TRS, he strives to create, manufacture and distribute quality tools, as well as provide the best quality of services, which formed the foundation of his company’s success. Working previously as a regional manager and engineer in the fire sprinkler industry led Mr. Mummaw to his current role as the owner and president of Triple R Specialty. The work exposed him to related field operations, where he gained an understanding of the various kinds of tools clients needed.
Responding to the different requirements and preferences customers have for tools, Mr. Mummaw decided to create a new, portable grooving machine, which grooves the end of a pipe to connect it to industry specialty couplings. After spending more than a year in prototype versions that were tested with contractors, he helped craft a better design that customers loved. He later designed and patented the labor time-saving Tru-Drill, a portable drill press used to cut holes in piping in the field. Mr. Mummaw considers his greatest achievement to be keeping TRS afloat particularly during the financial crisis that plagued the world in 2008 through 2010.
