Since 2016, Mr. Alvi has prospered as owner and principal of ZA Engineering, a premier structural design and repair firm based in Lindenhurst, New York, offering forensic engineering, engineering consultation, feasibility studies to repair, reuse, and/or preserve existing buildings, evaluation and structural assessment, commercial building inspections, design of new low-rise commercial and residential structures and design of and support for mechanical equipment and alternative energy systems. He specializes in structural and forensic engineering, assists other companies in filling the gaps in their expertise and helps them accomplish whatever projects they may have, with projects focusing on historic restoration and existing building and building evaluations.
Mr. Alvi obtained a Bachelor of Science in construction management and architecture from the State University of New York at Farmingdale in 2008. He provided superior service with the New York State Society of Professional Engineers on its board of directors and as a secretary and as a task force and committee member with the National Society of Professional Engineers from 2019 to 2020. In addition, Mr. Alvi has excelled as an adjunct professor in the Department of Architecture and Construction Management with Farmingdale State College since 2002.
Mr. Alvi attributes his success to his ability to listen carefully to other people and to his ability in helping them solve their problems. After initial interest in architecture, he realized that he was more interested in the problem-solving aspect that more greatly occurs in the engineering field. He maintains that founding ZA Engineering in 2016 has been a career highlight. In coming years, Mr. Alvi hopes to grow the business and to expand the business, employing more staff and personnel.
