Jeff Owen, Founder at Gear-X USA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in motor parts entrepreneurship.
Mr. Owen studied art and design with Southland Technical College from 1966 to 1968 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in art and design in 1970 from Wellington College of Education in New Zealand. He has successfully owned and operated numerous businesses from 1970 to the present in New Zealand and the United States.
From 1989 to 1993 Mr. Owen owned and operated Design Group Advertising in Invercargill, New Zealand, where he carried out general advertising campaigns, print preparation, camera ready artwork, logo design, corporate identities, and media advertising for many local commercial businesses. From 1992 to 1994, with Global Trading Group in Invercargill, one of the first private companies to import previously-owned vehicles to New Zealand, he travelled extensively to Japan, Europe, England and the United States purchasing automobiles, heavy earthmoving equipment and trucks.
After immigrating to the United States, Mr. Owen excelled as a marketing director from 1996 to 1998 with La Prep Inc. in Signal Hill, California. in 1997, he founded Special Projects Motor Sports and in 2001, he founded Gear-X, premier distributors of parts for motor sports vehicles. In 2021, he garnered the Automotive Elite Award for Best Motorsport Transmission and Drive Line Components Provider from AI Global Media Limited.
Mr. Owen attributes his success to making sure to put himself in the customer’s position, giving honest and clear answers to their questions and a reputation for impeccable backup service. His goal in the coming years is to continue increasing the awareness of the brand and designing and developing more innovative products.
