Title: Owner
Company: Wilson’s Fabrics
Location: Boaz, Alabama, United States

Beverly Head, Owner at Wilson’s Fabrics, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching and entrepreneurship.

Currently, Ms. Head is providing excellent service as owner and operator of Wilson’s Fabrics in Boaz, the largest fabric store in Alabama with nearly 10,000 square feet of fabric and upholstery. In 1961, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in home economics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and followed with a Master of Science in guidance and counseling from the same university in 1972.

Ms. Head prospered as a home economics teacher for more than three decades until her retirement in 1993. During this time, she began her business making draperies, pillows, duvets, bed skirts and roman shades for customers and she continues to produce various sewing projects for customers. After her husband’s passing in 1993, she started organizing bus trips for the elderly which have become a sought-after therapeutic experience for the seniors in her community.

The driving force for Ms. Head’s success was her desire to succeed, as well as to help people, which she believed could only be fulfilled through teaching. She had always wanted to help young girls and boys live productive lives when they start having their own homes and jobs and felt that teaching them home economics would be the best way to accomplish her aspiration and she was optimistic that it was going to be her best legacy to the world.

Now in her 80s, Ms. Head considers her obtaining the Mrs. Super Senior Alabama title in 2021 as her most notable achievement. She is determined to stay as healthy and as active at helping people as she is at present, and especially enjoys being the catalyst for therapy for many widows and other senior citizens who join her bus tours.
