Kevork Douzadjian, Owner at Apricoty, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cosmetics entrepreneurship.
In 2019, Mr. Douzadjian founded Apricoty, a premier cosmetics distributor based in Pasadena, California whose products are made with apricot oil. Hailing from Lebanon, his entrepreneurial spirit began at age seven when he sold lemons that he picked from his backyard to local produce stores; he and his friends also founded a window cleaning business. During this time he was also curious about soap, and after his family immigrated to the United States, he and his sister purchased a soap-making machine and began making handcrafted soaps.
After serving as a combat engineer with the United States Army for three years and earning a Master of Business Administration from Woodbury University in Burbank, Mr. Douzadjian worked for the Veterans Administration and Social Security and as a handyman and dabbling in winemaking, he returned to his original idea of soaps and cosmetics with the abundant apricots in southern California.
Mr. Douzadjian’s products with Apricoty use 90% natural ingredients from well-known suppliers. He uses homemade beeswax in deodorant, lip products, lotions and some soaps to make them harder. After acquiring ingredients such as plants, roots, stems and seeds, he grinds them, adds oils and lets them get soaked by the sun. Next, he stores them in a dark place for a few months so the oils soak. In addition, his packaging employs all-green, recyclable materials.
In the coming years, Mr. Douzadjian would like to grow Apricoty to 25 to 50 employees, and at that point try to get his products into major supermarkets and malls; they are now available through the Apricoty website and on Amazon.
