Janis Comstock-Jones, Owner and Consultant at Gallifrey Enterprises, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in emergency preparation management.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science from Rio Grande College in Rio Grande, Ohio in 1978, Ms. Comstock-Jones subsequently completed postgraduate studies at The Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1979 and coursework in business with Columbus Technical College in 1987. She later continued her education with a Master of Science in criminal justice and homeland security administration in 2007 from Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio.
Ms. Comstock-Jones excelled as a fiscal officer in county government in Columbus, Ohio from 1979 to 1985 and an instructor with the Columbus Technical College from 1985 to 1987. She then provided superior service as data processing coordinator, assistant director and director of information technology of the Central Ohio Blood Service Region/Columbus Area Chapter with the American Red Cross from 1987 to 1995. Since the latter year, Ms. Comstock-Jones has prospered as president of Gallifrey Enterprises, in which she works with businesses and entities on contingency planning for natural disasters as well as illnesses such as COVID-19. Her professional memberships include the International Association for Emergency Managers and The American Association of University Women. During her time with the American Red Cross, Ms. Comstock-Jones was the recipient of an Employee of the Year award.
Ms. Comstock-Jones attributes her success to curiosity. She has always had an eye for how things work together which helps her see problems, find trends and make suggestions for corrections. As a career highlight, she is most proud of the committee that developed the first records management policy for a national organization. In the coming years, she is considering studying for her PhD either in education or leadership.
