Following coursework in business management at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, North Dakota, Mr. Kelly found much success as a service mechanic for John Deere and Wagner Equipment. With John Deere, he garnered Mechanic of the Year honors in 1997 among other awards in recognition of his mechanical abilities. A gifted athlete, he is most proud of capturing four state wrestling championships during high school.
In 2014, Mr. Kelly parlayed his technical prowess as founder of Kelly’s Dry Cleaning, which operates from two branches in Durango, Colorado and Farmington, New Mexico. Besides dry cleaning, the company offers leather and suede care, repairs and alterations, wedding gown preservations, wash and fold services, Native American fabric care, linen and household cleaning, environmentally friendly GreenEarth services for resorts, bed and breakfast and rental property care and Navajo rug cleaning. In recognition of his superior services, Mr. Kelly was honored with the Best Cleaner of the Year Award by the town of Farmington in 2019.
As the owner of the business, Mr. Kelly oversees daily operations, including running the counter, answering correspondence and managing the staff. He attributes his success to the support of his clients throughout the years, which makes his passion for the business strong. In the coming years, Mr. Kelly hopes to grow the business and be able to serve a wider area. He is planning to open two new other stores in Pagosa Springs and Cortez, Colorado. Additionally, Mr. Kelly hopes to establish professional accounts with hospitals and resorts as part of his company’s expansion.
