The Works is well-regarded as a local favorite in Chicago, Illinois, having served incredible gyros in the community for nearly 40 years. Additionally, Mr. Mitris is also the owner of S&A Restaurant Inc. (operating as Butterfields) and Lily’s Kitchen Inc. (operating as Sophia’s House of Pancakes), the former he has managed since 2020, and the latter since 2016. 

In all of his restaurant endeavors, Mr. Mitris operates on the guiding principle to help all of those who enter his establishments. To wit, his capacity for Greek hospitality is seemingly boundless, as he works tirelessly to accommodate each of his customers to the best of his ability. These traits similarly allow Mr. Mitris to bring out the best in his employees, as well, which ultimately culminates in a positive dining experience and working environment overall.

Prior to his work as a restauranteur, Mr. Mitris excelled in the real estate industry and the field of insurance, operating as a realtor for Emfasis Group LLC between 2007 and 2008 and as an agent for Aspis Pronoia General Insurance from 2004 to 2008. He originally began his career in 2002, working as an insurance agent for Assicurazioni Generali S.P.A. until 2004. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Mitris has also remained dedicated to continually learning new things. In the pursuit of higher education, he earned a bachelor’s degree in the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

As a testament to his professional achievements in the field, Sophia’s House of Pancakes was ranked as the Number One Restaurant in Indiana and has been constantly lauded among the best restaurants in LaPorte County in Northwest Indiana. He also received recognition on several occasions for his efforts while honorably serving in the Hellenic Army. Attributing much of his success to his upbringing, he is notably proud to be surrounded by friends and family who support him in all of his endeavors. Looking to the future, Mr. Mitris hopes to open his fourth restaurant, which he intends to offer fine dining with Mediterranean cuisine.
