Toby Hagerott, Steward of Newark Natural Foods and Owner of Against the Grain Farm, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in sustainability and landscape architecture.
Since 2019, Mr. Hagerott has excelled as the steward of Newark Natural Foods. He has been the owner of Against the Grain Farm since 2015 and serves as the farm to school manager with the Colonial School District since 2016. In these roles, he runs and manages the farm, including managing vegetable acreage, berry fields, orchards and hay fields. He also oversees staff and students who are on farm grounds completing tasks. Mr. Hagerott garnered experience as the former owner of Bayberry Farm from 2010 to 2015. He began his career as a groundskeeper at Polo Ranch from 1993 to 2000 and a deckhand with the Tall Ship Windy in 1997.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Hagerott earned an associate degree in general studies from Sheridan Community College in 1997. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture in 2001 and concluded his higher education with a Master of Science in sustainable design at Philadelphia University in 2019. For his achievements, Mr. Hagerott received a Governor’s Conservation Award from the State of Delaware in 2018. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors.
