Mark S. Cauble, Owner at Machine Tool & Design Technology, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in machining.

With over 35 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Cauble has excelled as the owner of B/C Precision Tool, Inc. since 2008. Concurrent to this position, he has served at Ivy Tech Community College since 2016 as an instructor before being appointed to the role of department chair in 2018. He has worked for two of the largest casket companies in the United States, was active as a team member for the United States Naval Research at the Submarine Lab in Groton, Connecticut, and contributed to multiple military defense projects. Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Cauble pursued an education at Vincennes University, where he earned an associate’s degree in tools in 1982. Furthermore, he is a licensed journeyman toolmaker.

In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Cauble remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained involvement on the advisory board for strategic planning at Ivy Tech Community College and remains a board member at WorkOne. He was presented with the Indiana Work One Achievement Award for economy and commitment to the community from Governor Mike Pence in 2015. Furthermore, he was recognized as having set the hearing test standard for the American National Standards Institute.

Mr. Cauble developed a product called the Shock Tube which changed the method of hearing testing and improved military headsets. Initially, he collaborated with an audiologist at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health on his idea to develop a tool for testing earmuffs in laboratory environments. He manufactured prototypes of his concept and developed four alternative versions. The Shock Tube has become an established part of the military equipment industry and was purchased for use in the United States by 3M and another company for use in France.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Cauble has accrued several accolades throughout his career. MIT and Harvard University published his writings on the Shock Tube, and the University of Buffalo utilized his system to perform concussion studies. His technology was implemented by the United States military to improve servicemembers’ battlefield headsets. He attributes his success to not saying “no” when faced with adversity and believing in his ability to think his way through any challenge. In the immediate future, he intends to continue researching and working in his shop.
