Prior to this position, she was active as the founder of Luthin Associates from 1994 to 2022, the chief executive officer for Luthin Associates from 1994 to 2022, the executive director of Consumer Power Advocates from 2002 to 2022 and the president of Luthin Associates from 2019 to 2022. During this time, she additionally served with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority as an implementation contractor from 2009 to 2015 and an independent contractor from 2015 to 2018 as well as the New York Energy Buyers Forum from 1995 to 2018. Mrs. Luthin began her career as a senior financial analyst in the Office of Financial Management for the New York City Human Resources Administration from 1988 to 1991 and a project manager for the Office of Energy Conservation with the New York City Department of General Services from 1992 to 1994.
Before embarking on her professional path, Mrs. Luthin pursued an education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in marketing in 1979 before graduating with a Master of Business Administration in marketing in 1982. Attributing her success to her ability to ensure minor details do not escalate to become major problems, she was notably recognized as the Energy Service Professional of the Year for the State of New York by the Association of Energy Engineers in 2002, the International Professional of the Year by the Association of Energy Engineers in 2004, a Top Woman in Commercial Real Estate by Sokol Media in 2014, and a Fellow of the Association of Energy Engineers in 2019. The recipient of the Women in Sustainability Leadership Award from gb&d Magazine in 2017, she was likewise selected for inclusion in the Top 25 New Jersey Leading Woman Entrepreneurs in 2015, the Top 100 Women Leaders of New Jersey by Women We Admire in 2021 and the Energy Managers Hall of Fame by The Association of Energy Engineers in 2022. Proud to have argued for nonprofit organizations to receive hydroelectric power, Mrs. Luthin hopes to remain relevant within her industry while dedicating more time to her husband, her health and traveling.
