Having spent much of his life dedicated to the culinary arts, Mr. Tiner has distinguished himself as the executive chef at Emerald Events & Catering, a woman-owned creative catering and event design company based in Tampa, Florida. Offering a wealth of hors d’oeuvres, buffet options, creative stations, custom menus and more, Emerald Events offers its services for a variety of occasions, including weddings, holidays and corporate parties.
Outside of his work at Emerald Events, Mr. Tiner also serves as the executive chef and partner at District South Kitchen & Craft in South Tampa, a purveyor of craft American fare and memorable dining experiences for guests. Previously, he found success across the span of more than 15 years in private dining, catering and food photography, including as the former head chef at CW’s Gin Joint and the chef de cuisine of Piquant Hyde Park.
Having worked in the restaurant industry since he was only 14 years old, Mr. Tiner has come to embody a strident dedication to fine dining not only at the highest level, but for the average customer as well, whose satisfaction in experiencing a quality, home-cooked meal has proven an endless source of gratification and inspiration. As a testament to his success in this regard, he is most proud to have worked at restaurants that have been nominated for prominent local awards, including Best Brunch in Tampa in 2023 and Best New Restaurant in 2022.
A graduate of the culinary arts program at the Art Institute of Tampa, Mr. Tiner was initially drawn to cooking due to the influence of his mother and grandmother, whose cooking inspired him to start experimenting with various dishes at a young age. He also benefited richly from the tutelage of many excellent chefs in his local area. Looking toward the future, Mr. Tiner aspires to continue excelling in his chosen profession, and to eventually open several new dining establishments while engaging in fresh new concepts.
