Ms. Moodie’s journey through academia has been marked by a dedication to expanding her knowledge across various disciplines. Beginning with a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature from Queen’s University in 1999, she furthered her education with a Master of Arts in journalism from Western University in 2000. Pursuing her interest in culinary arts, she obtained an associate’s degree from The Culinary Institute of America in 2008. Her pursuit of knowledge continued with coursework in food writing at Mediabistro in 2009, food studies at The New School in 2010, and French at Learn Language Hoboken in 2018. Most recently, she achieved a Master of Arts in food studies from NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University in 2023.

Ms. Moodie’s career trajectory is as diverse as her educational pursuits. Commencing as an account executive at FleishmanHillard from 2000 to 2001, she delved into marketing. Her journey progressed with roles such as marketing manager at Richard Frankel Productions from 2004 to 2005. She simultaneously explored the culinary domain, working as a bread maker at Per Se, the restaurant under Thomas Keller in 2008, and as a test kitchen intern at Saveur, under the Bonnier Corporation, in 2009. Presently, she owns The Tipsy Duck Wine Co., where her multifaceted skills converge in entrepreneurship and wine culture.

Acknowledged for her expertise, Ms. Moodie’s accolades include the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in 2017 and the Nucci Scholarship for Culinary Innovation at The Culinary Institute of America, among others. She has also been featured in Edible East End in 2023 for her contributions to the culinary world. Beyond her professional pursuits, she finds solace in gardening, viticulture, and reading, aligning with her passion for sustainability and the earth’s preservation.

Ms. Moodie attributes her success to hard work and perseverance, ingrained in her by her family. A mother of three, she maintained her interest in culinary arts while raising her children. Her entrepreneurial spirit, kindled during the pandemic, led her to acquire The Tipsy Duck Wine Co. Reflecting on her journey, her most notable achievement is earning her master’s degree while nurturing her family and embarking on her entrepreneurial journey. In the coming years, she envisions broadening her business’s scope toward sustainability, teaching, or writing and furthering her connection with the world of wine and spirits, driven by her belief that “Preparation is everything.”
