He began his career as a clerk and genealogist for the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution from 1974 to 1977. He established himself as president of Lineage Search Associates, Inc. from 1977 to 1999. He served as a columnist at Heritage Quest Magazine in 2001.

Mr. Pollock continued his career as an expert consultant with Everton Publishing Company from 2001 to 2006. He has been active as an expert genealogist at Ancestry.com Expert Connect from 2008 to 2012 and at ExpertGenealogy since 2014. He worked at Archives.com as an expert series contributor from 2011 to 2014. At GenealogyFreelancers.com, he garnered a stellar reputation as a specialist since 2011. He has held the role of founder and owner of AnQueStories LLC since 2019 and as an independent associate with Legal Shield Associate since 2022.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Pollock pursued an education at the College of William & Mary, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in government and Russian studies in 1973. He concluded his studies at Georgetown University, graduating with a Master of Arts in Russian area studies in 1978. He holds certifications as an expert witness in genealogy in New Haven County, Connecticut, Wise County, Virginia, and Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Pollock has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He was active politically as a judge in three elections in Virginia, a delegate in six elections in Virginia and Texas, and a precinct captain, a floor runner, credentialed observed, and a republican party poll watcher. He found success as an author, guest columnist, feature writer, contributor, editor, publisher, and compiler on dozens of publications, articles, and books. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Alumni Band Organization at the College of William & Mary, the Association of Professional Genealogists, the Richmond Concert Band, the Washington Redskins Marching Band, and the Graduate Committee for Responsible Youth Politics.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Pollock has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest. He was recognized as Correspondent of the Day by the Richmond Times-Dispatch in 2000 and inducted into the Order of Kentucky Colonels in 1994.
