Edward von Briesen, President and Sole Proprietor of Long Island Lead Assessment & Control, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
In preparation for his career as a professional engineer, Mr. von Briesen attended Tufts University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. He subsequently started his career as an engineer for the Long Island Lighting Company in Hicksville, New York, where he worked from 1970 to 1972. From 1973 to 1982, he served as the president of Briesmar Inc. in Oyster Bay, New York, and subsequently became the president of Breza Enterprises Inc., where he remained until 1996. Since his departure, Mr. von Briesen has excelled as the president and sole proprietor of Long Island Lead Assessment & Control.
In addition to his primary professional pursuits, Mr. von Briesen has contributed to numerous civic organizations. He served on the board of directors for the Nassau County chapter of the American Red Cross in 1998, and acted as the former secretary of the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club in 1996. Since 1979, he has been a public works commissioner in the Village of Oyster Bay Cove, and since 2005 he has worked for the Village of Matinicock. Mr. von Briesen is a former member of Piping Rock in Locust Valley, New York, and in his spare time, he enjoys flying and restoring antique automobiles.
Mr. von Briesen became involved in his profession after poor financial circumstances, including a real estate crash which caused him to stop working in building. He learned about a new law regarding the use of lead paint from his neighbor, who told him he should look into the opportunities as a lead paint inspector, and he subsequently received his certification. After meeting with several members of the industry and working with them for several years, he launched his career and has found success ever since. Among his myriad career highlights, Mr. von Briesen remembers most proudly finding lead paint in a home where a child was suffering from elevated levels of lead in their body. He enjoyed being able to help the child and bring the family peace of mind. As a further testament to his success and stature, Mr. von Briesen has been selected for inclusion in the 31st edition of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
